Last Day

Dec. 7th is the last day of class and we present our finished games.  My game is 95% done. I just have to add some finishing touches to give it that finished look.  Once finished I'll post the swf file here for all to see as well as on my wiki page.

Updating

Work continues to progress on the game.  I tend to get pressed for time with my other classes taking the majority of it.  I feel that this class is suffering for it but at the same time I am working just as hard on my coding.

Catch up

I tend to forget about blogging.  I have been working on recreating my game graphics as well as rethinking some companents of my game.  the overall game will be the same just some of the interactivity will change.  I am also thinking about switching to AS3 instead of AS2.  not sure yet.

Restart

Well I had to completely restart my project. I lost the flash drives I had saved my game on. Thankfully I can download my demo file from the globaloria site and get my coding from that, however I have to redo all my graphic work. On the brightside it means my artwork will look better in my opinion.

Fall Semester 2011

Well fall semester has started.  I have reviewed all the information from the last semester.

Today's thoughts

I completed the game demo today and uploaded it to the wiki page.  I wasn't able to get the sound working properly.  With the finished game I think I will switch to actionscript 3.   I feel it allows for a wider variety of capabilities then 2.  I've been thinking about what mini games I would like to create for the tasks, but haven't narrowed it down yet.

Demo game

I completed my demo game coding today.   I still need to upload it and add sound.  I think it turned out better then I planned. However I still have a long way to go before I get it perfect for a finished version.

Catching Up

I have missed a few days posting, so I'm here to catch you up.
     I chose a topic for my game. I am going with an educational field trip to the zoo. It is geared towards younger children in preschool and kindergarten. They are required to complete various tasks and as they complete each one, they will learn new facts about the animals occupying the zoo. The facts in turn help them take better care of the animals as they progress through the levels. They will have to have the basic skill sets for their age group. They will earn points for each task which can be used to purchase supplies and equipment needed to take care of the animals. Once all the animals have been properly cared for they win the game.
     I have created a team page, to place all the game information in. I think I may gone a bit overboard with my idea. Not certain if I have the coding skills needed. I tend to complicate my own work.

Game Research

I'm suppose to introduce myself.  But I am a very private person.  I have prior experience with Adobe programs and I am ACA certified.  


My game is in the puzzle genre knowledge community with a focus on ________.  Well I'm not really sure what Focus I want it to have yet.

Genres I'm interested in.

I think I would like the puzzle genre simply because it engages the player to think a bit more.  The object of the game while clear can encourage players to think outside of the box and teach them at the same time.

Internet Safety/ Privacy

I started my career with the military. So I am well aware of what the government says it can do and what it actually does. I know "Big Brother" is real. There is a rampant abuse of information on the internet. There are individuals who use the online world to lure others with lies, to the man who watches kiddie porn, to the drug cartel keeping track of its shipments. Individuals on a personal level are very intelligent people but the world has been indoctrinated to the point that they no longer see these horrors.
